A 40-year-old woman has been accused of speeding and driving dangerously before flipping her car on a straight stretch of road near Invercargill.
Police said a witness reported seeing the woman's grey Nissan Primera speeding and driving dangerously in Mataura at 6:50am.
At 7:15am, her car crossed the centre line at Kennington, before slamming into a culvert and flipping end over end.
Fire Service personnel had to extract the woman from the damaged vehicle.
She was taken to Southland Hospital for treatment and is in a stable condition.
