A person is believed to be trapped after a vehicle lost control in black ice and rolled near Winton in Southland.
Police southern communications spokesperson Hemi Waratine said police were called to the accident, near Springhills, about 9.10am.
The Fire Service and St John ambulance are also at the scene.
Mr Waratine said it had been reported someone was possibly trapped in the vehicle.
He said there were reports of black ice around central Otago, from Queenstown up to Omarama and down to Winton.
