A car was left wedged in the lounge of a house in Taylorville after a crash just after midnight this morning.
West Coast police intelligence supervisor Rodney Beckett said the occupants were awoken at 12.15am by the sound of a vehicle crashing through their front fence, and then the house.
"The occupants of the house were uninjured and the driver of the vehicle, who was also uninjured, was taken back to the Greymouth Police Station to be questioned in relation to his actions," Mr Beckett said.
Neighbour Stan Hyde said he did not hear the impact, "but the next door neighbour rang me just after it happened, and we went straight over".
The house was in a "hell of a mess".
