Police believe they know which car killed Amy Edward-Mintorn on Wellington's Cambridge Terrace a week ago.
Police seized three cars thought to be have been racing away from traffic lights at the time the 23-year-old was hit.
Detective Senior Sergeant Shane Cotter said police had completed forensic examinations and specialist testing on the red Toyota Trueno, white two-door Subaru WRX and four-door silver/grey Subaru WRX. These had now been released to their owners.
"There is no forensic evidence to suggest Amy was hit by the white car as she crossed Cambridge Tce," Mr Cotter said.
"There is also no damage to this car and it would appear she was only hit by the red car."
Charges have not yet been laid against the driver.
Mr Cotter said inquiries were continuing into the fatality, which happened at 1.40am on Sunday of last week as Ms Edward-Mintorn crossed the road.
