Ten fire trucks are at the scene of a crash north of Wellington this evening after a car hit a gas main.
Fire Service central communications shift manager Jan Wills said emergency services were called to the scene on Kapiti Rd in Paraparaumu about 6.50pm.
Ms Wills said the car hit a gas main outside the Z Station, which caused a gas leak.
There were currently 10 fire trucks at the scene working to stop the leak, she said.
"We currently have several appliances in attendance, assisting the gas company."
Ms Wills said the driver escaped with minor injuries.
