Car hits barrier, bursts into flames

A car hit a median barrier on Auckland's Southern motorway this morning and burst into flames.

The accident happened between Grand Vue Rd and Redbout Rd and affected north-bound traffic.

Fire Communications spokesman Jaron Phillips said the car started to smoke and then burst into flame after it hit the barrier. No-one was trapped, he said.

One person was taken to hospital but they weren't seriously injured.
