A Christchurch woman whose car was recovered by police a week after it was stolen has the thieves to thank for giving it an overhaul.
After inspecting the car, she rang Christchurch police and said the offenders had installed a new battery, new wheels, a new steering column and a new glove box.
Inspector Michael Coulter said the woman told police the car was running a lot better than it did before.
