A person who was burned in a car fire in Riwaka, northwest of Nelson City, has been flown to hospital.
The fire happened shortly after 6pm. Riwaka is on the western side of Tasman Bay, north of Motueka.
"A person suffered burns to the hand and face from a fire in a car engine," said a Fire and Emergency spokesman.
"They were transported to hospital by helicopter."
