A car crashed through a shop window and hit a shop assistant after the driver hit the accelerator while trying to put on a sandal.
The shop assistant is being looked at by medical staff.
The crash happened in North Hamilton at about 9.25am, a statement from police said.
The driver of the car was shaken but not hurt. The shop assistant has injuries to her shoulder.
Firefighters have been called to assess the structural safety of the building.
"Waikato Police are taking this opportunity to remind drivers that when they are behind the wheel of a motor vehicle their focus should be on controlling that vehicle, not divided by texting, using cell phones or trying to slip on footwear," the statement said.
