Car crashes backwards down bank

A woman was taken to hospital after her car rolled backwards down a bank in Welcome Bay this morning.

Police and ambulance officers were called to the property where the car was wedged in Waikite Rd about 8.30am.

The car rolled backwards down a metre-high bank before coming to stop against the side of an aluminium shed.

Senior Constable Steve Murray said a woman had pulled into the driveway opposite and was getting out when the accident took place.

"She's put it into park, gone to hop out to get some stuff and knocked the gear stick and either put it into neutral or reverse," he said.

A young boy was strapped into a safety seat in the car at the time of the crash. He was uninjured.

The woman was taken to hospital to be checked after banging her head.
