A man has been flown to Wellington hospital in a serious condition after crashing his car off the Paekākāriki Hill road.
The man has been rescued after spending more than two hours trapped in the car, 60 metres down a steep bank.
His car veered off the road just before eight this morning.
The road has been closed while the rescue operation was carried out and is yet to reopen.
