One lane of the main highway through the central North Island has reopened after a van and a car towing a motorbike on a trailer crashed.
A police spokeswoman said the crash was on the Desert Rd, about 20km north of Waiouru just after 7.30am.
Emergency services were at the scene.
It was not known how many people were in the vehicles or if anyone was injured.
New Zealand Transport Agency tweeted State Highway One was closed because of the crash and icy conditions.
