A car has crashed in Auckland's Northwestern Motorway during rush hour.
The car was in the westbound lane in the Mt Albert--St Lukes area when it crashed shortly before 8am.
There was heavy congestion in that lane from the St Lukes Rd off-ramp to the Great North Rd off-ramp.
There was earlier some congestion in the eastbound lane as far back as Waterview, possibly exacerbated because people were slowing down to look at the crashed car.
"Once the traffic backs up there are people on the other side watching and then there are the people actually caught up in the [crash] so it tales a while to sort," a police spokesperson said.
