Car collision leaves woman in serious condition

A female pedestrian received serious injuries today after being hit by a car in south Auckland, police said.

The woman, who was described as elderly, was taken to Middlemore Hospital.

Police were alerted about 9am to the incident at the intersection of Great South Rd and Nelson St in Otahuhu.

It led to the northbound lanes of Great South Rd being closed and diversions put in place.

Police said further details about how the woman was hit and her injuries were not yet available.
