A man had to be cut from a car after he was seriously injured in a collision with a water tanker near Invercargill last night.
The 39-year-old man was a passenger in a Holden Commodore that collided with a Kenworth truck and trailer on State Highway 1 at Graces Rd, Longbush, about 10km out of Invercargill, just after 6pm.
Senior Sergeant Bruce Terry of Invercargill police said the man was cut from the car and taken to Southland Hospital.
He's in a serious but stable condition.
He was expected to undergo surgery for leg injuries.
The 40-year-old driver of the car was taken to hospital with minor injuries, while the 45-year-old truck driver was uninjured but shaken.
Both vehicles were travelling in the same direction at the time of the crash, and investigations into the cause were ongoing, Mr Terry said.
