Around 1000 cars have taken part in a cruise from Auckland to Pukekohe to pay tribute to Australian motor racing legend Peter Brock.
The cars left Alexandra Park at noon for the 50km journey to Pukehoke Park Raceway in an event organised by the Commodore Car Club of New Zealand.
Club president Paul Williams said the turnout surpassed expectations.
"We expected somewhere around the 500 to 600 mark," he said.
"There's upwards of 1000 cars, so we've been pleasantly surprised."
Mr Williams said the cars had come from around the North Island.
About 90 per cent were Holden Commodores, but rival carmakers like Ford and Nissan were also represented.
"It's a memorial cruise for a race car driver who drove a lot of different vehicles, not just Commodores," Mr Williams said.
Brock, 61, was killed just over a fortnight ago when he crashed during a rally in Western Australia.
