KEY POINTS:
The fiery sight of a blazing car awaited New Year's Eve commuters coming into Auckland today.
Several passing motorists notified the Fire Service of the blazing car, which was in the bus lane of the Fanshawe St off-ramp from the northern motorway, just south of the Auckland Harbour Bridge, about 7.55am.
Fire Service northern communications centre shift manager Tony McDonald said the car was well ablaze when firefighters arrived. It was extinguished quickly.
Mr McDonald said nobody needed to be extracted from the car. He was unaware if there were any injuries.
