A car driving on the wrong side of the road is believed to have caused a truck driver to swerve on to soft grass, pulling his fully laden trailer of logs into a farmer's paddock.
McCarthy's Transport manager Stanley Sayer said the driver was heading from Tinui to Masterton with a fully loaded truck and trailer unit of logs about 7.30am yesterday when a car travelling in the opposite direction crossed into the path of the truck.
The driver swerved to the left to avoid crashing into the car, Mr Sayer said.
"A blue sedan crossed the centre line. [The driver] pulled the wheel and that caused the truck to go into the soft grass, and it has sucked it in and pulled it over. He thought it was okay."
The driver was not hurt, he said.
