One person was critically injured when a car hit a road works truck on the Southern Motorway in Auckland tonight.
Emergency services were called to the crash near the Wellesley St and Port off-ramps about 9.15pm.
Fire Service spokesman Scott Osmond said it took just over an hour to remove the driver of the car from the vehicle wreckage.
The patient was transported to Auckland City Hospital with critical, but non-life threatening injuries, police said.
It is understood the driver was travelling alone.
