An ambulance involved in a crash in Manukau this morning was going to a call-out when it collided with a car at a busy intersection.
No one was injured in the crash, but another ambulance had to be called out to the emergency after the initial ambulance crashed on the corner of Druces Road and Wiri Station Road, at around 9am.
A St John media spokesman told the Herald no one from either vehicle was injured and the ambulance did not have a patient on board at the time.
"They were going under lights and sirens to a status 3 patient - which is moderate condition - but we arranged for another ambulance to go to that. That patient was transferred to Middlemore Hospital,'' he said.
The area was closed off for some time as authorities worked to clear the area and remove the two vehicles.
