A man has been airlifted to hospital in a critical condition after a car rolled on the beach at Castlepoint in coastal Wairarapa this evening.
The 22-year-old was one of three occupants in the car when it rolled near the lagoon shortly before 6pm, Acting Inspector Guy Callahan of police central communications said.
He was airlifted to Wellington Hospital in a critical condition.
Mr Callahan said the other two occupants were uninjured.
The police serious crash unit was investigating.
