Two men who spent hours in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf on Thursday night after their boat sank have been discharged from hospital. The men got into trouble after a structural fault in their boat caused it to sink about 9pm.
One of them was helped from the water by residents of Maraetai, 44km east of Auckland, about 4am. He told them another man was still in the water. The second man was found a couple of hours later suffering from hypothermia.
