Canterbury University remains closed today.
Vice-Chancellor Rod Carr expects to have a fair idea of the damage to university buildings by this afternoon.
The first university exam is scheduled for Saturday, but Dr Carr says he will know by tonight what exams will take place and their location.
";I think people are pretty tired and pretty frustrated, they don't like this, they would prefer it was over, they understand the complexity and the importance of being safe but they really just want to get on with life.";
Mr Carr hopes to have all buildings open by Monday morning and has confirmed the university will finish semester one on schedule.
