A magnitude 4.4 aftershock was felt in Christchurch this morning.
The quake hit at 9.28am and was around 9km deep, according to the GNS website.
Residents took to Twitter to comment, with @HollyRuffgarden saying the quake had shaken the 129-year-old Armson Woolstore.
The aftershock came four minutes after a 3.0 quake was recorded 10km north-west of Christchurch at a depth of about 8km.
The city's residents have had to live through hundreds of aftershocks since a 7.1 earthquake shook the region on September 4.
The police and fire service said they had not received any reports of fresh damage after today's quake.
