A crowd of 60,000 is expected to turn out at the Canterbury A&P Show today on the region's anniversary public holiday.
Fine skies with a forecast high of 21 degrees will see thousands enjoy the regional holiday at the annual show, or at the Show Day races at Addington.
And the final event in the Cup and Show Week carnival, tomorrow's 150th running of the New Zealand Cup at Riccarton Park Racecourse is likely to be a sell-out.
"People really want to capture the magic of the week and enjoy this historic race and a special day," said Christchurch City Council events development manager, Richard Attwood.
