Cancer patients will get faster treatment with the help of an extra $4 million, Health Minister Tony Ryall says.
The money would go towards new high-tech software to deliver a higher quality, faster treatment as well as improving patient management systems and speeding up the commissioning of a new linear accelerator.
Liner accelerators allow doctors to take images of people to spot cancer and its growth. The new machine will be for Palmerston North.
The $4m is reprioritised from underspends in the health sector last year. The annual health budget is $14 billion.
