An elderly Canadian woman who was on her fourth cycling visit to New Zealand was killed yesterday in a collision with a motorcyclist near Lake Tekapo.
Freda Scorah, aged 73, was biking with her 80-year-old husband when the accident occurred, about 2.15 pm. She died at the scene. The motorcyclist, a Christchurch man, suffered moderate injuries.
In Palmerston North, a 58-year-old local woman died yesterday after the car in which she was a passenger collided with another car at an intersection.
Five other people, including two preschoolers, were injured.
