Auckland's population is predicted to swell to close to two million over the next 21 years.
Figures released indicate some 60 per cent of the country's population will be living in the region by 2031. That is an increase of almost 600,000 people, from 1.3 million to around 1.9 million.
According to Statistics New Zealand, of the country's 73 territorial areas only 44 are expected to have more people living in the area by 2031.
