KEY POINTS:
Michael Campbell went back to his roots yesterday, leaving behind his golf bag to promote his fledgling charity.
The 2005 US Open winner visited the Porirua school to launch the FUEL programme, which helps intermediate-aged children develop their talents. Today he will be at Papakura Normal Primary to promote healthy lifestyles among primary-aged children.
Campbell said his school visits aimed to inspire young Kiwis, and promote healthy alternatives to a "sedentary lifestyle".
The Michael Campbell Foundation was established in June 2008, and focuses particularly on disadvantaged children.
Campbell withdrew from the Dubai Desert Classic with injury at the end of January, and has taken a month off to allow his shoulder to heal, and further his foundation work.
