KEY POINTS:
A police officer caught on camera doing 115km/h in a 50km/h zone on his way to a school bus crash is defending a charge of driving at a speed that might have been dangerous.
Sergeant Gregory Arthur Smith, of Winton, was attending the crash of a school bus with 10 children on board on February 9 when he passed the speed camera, Invercargill District Court was told.
The camera operator saw the police car slow down for a pedestrian crossing near a school then accelerate.
He was clocked at 115km/h.
Prosecutor Craig Smith argued the speed was dangerous.
The case is continuing.
