High quality security camera footage played "a major part" in the capture of an alleged bank robber, police say.
Still photos of the robber were given to police 10 minutes after the robbery at the BNZ in Morrinsville, 32km northeast of Hamilton, on Friday, Matamata-Piako sub-area manager Senior Sergeant Dana McDonald said.
"By having those images we were able to talk to other people in town, combine some good local knowledge of our staff with information from the community and figure out who it was we were after," she said.
A 29-year-old man was arrested on Saturday and charged with aggravated robbery.
Meanwhile, Hamilton police are seeking a man in connection with a robbery at the Hillcrest Kiwibank last Monday.
He was seen in the branch shortly before the robbery, wearing a blue sleeveless hooded sweatshirt.
The man was described as a slender, light-skinned Maori, between 16 and 20 years-old and about 183cm tall.
