New Zealand's bronze medal-winning equestrian team were treated to a royal welcome home when they paraded through Cambridge yesterday.
The Waikato town, best known for its thoroughbred studs and stables, put on a jubilant reception for medallists Andrew Nicholson, Jonathon Paget, Jonelle Richards, Caroline Powell and Mark Todd.
An inspired performance from local favourite Mark Todd in the cross-country lifted the team into medal contention and helped the New Zealand Olympic contingent secure 13 medals in London - the country's most successful result since Los Angeles in 1984.
The Waikato region was strongly represented at the Games throughthe feats of Cambridge-based equestrians and rowers, including hometown living legends Todd and Nicholson.
