Early childhood education heavy weights have joined forces to urgently call for more Government funding.
New Zealand Kindergartens, Te Rito Maioha Early Childhood and NZEI Te Riu Roa represent over 400 kindergartens and 900 early childhood education services between them.
They have made the plea for more funding at an announcement in Wellington, but haven't specified the exact amount needed.
New Zealand Kindergartens CEO Clare Wells said last month's budget dashed hope the sector would be fixed.
She said funding decisions are undermining the opportunity for every child to get the best early education and be set up for life.
