Volunteer Greytown firefighters were called to douse a blaze in an extractor fan at Kuranui College yesterday.
Fire communications supervisor David Barham said the alarm was raised at the school just before 10am and the fire was out by the time a fire crew arrived.
He said firefighters had ensuredthe blaze was completely doused before leaving.
