Lesley Martin, who was last month found guilty of attempting to murder her terminally ill mother, is urging supporters to gather at police stations throughout the country on Friday next week when she is sentenced.
"This is their one opportunity to have their say," she said. Martin said the voluntary euthanasia debate was now in the public domain, but it was time for people to come forward and be visible.
Central district police commander Superintendent Mark Lammas said anyone who went to a police counter or watchhouse to make a point about the law needed to think first, because police were not lawmakers.
"It would also be a waste of police time."
