Red Star, Greytown and Rathkeale College were winning teams when matches in the Umpires Cup senior men's inter-club cricket competition continued in Wairarapa on Saturday.
Medium pacers Carwyn Caffell (5-15), Peter Sigvertsen (2-31) and Jarod Watt (2-16) did the damage for Red Star as they dismissed Wairarapa College for just 102. Only A Treseder with 25 got amongst the runs to any degree.
Red Star also struggled wiith the bat, reaching their target for the loss of seven wickets. Watt (25) and Camus Wyatt (26 not out) were the leading scorers for them. Bowling for Wairarapa College Joel Macklin took 3-29, D.Jones 2-28 and Richard Irons 2-20
Academy batted first against Greytown and made 177 of which Jamie Hill contributed 62 and Andy Roberts 31. Bowling for Greytown Ben Hodder took 2-42 and Willie Tatham 2-2. Greytown made light work of their chase, losing just one wicket as victory was achieved.Josh Doherty was out for 68 while unbeaten were Jacob Ross on 74 and Mark Childs on 20.
Rathkeale College captain Tim Lucas scored 70 as his side reached 172 against Lansdowne. Andy Oldfield with 36 and Jesse Bailey with 20 gave solid support.
Bowling for Lansdowne Lee Ewington took 3-12, Doug Johnson 2-40 and Choi Jackson 2-32.
Lansdowne were all out for 140 in reply, Dean Buchanan top scoring with 40.Bowling for Rathkeale, Brock Price took 2-28, Oldfield 2-10 and Braddock 2-3.
