KEY POINTS:
A Mt Maunganui butcher has appeared in court for allegedly driving into a group of teenagers in Whangamata on the weekend.
Dean Jay Yaxley, 22, entered no plea to seven charges, including drink-driving and dangerous driving causing injury.
Yaxley allegedly drove his modified V8 Holden into the group from Tauranga's Otumoetai College while trying to overtake two vehicles.
The teens were in the driveway when the accident happened. Three were injured and two remain in Waikato Hospital.
They were stable and improving yesterday.
