A motorist's been arrested after driving on three wheels across Tauranga, leaving a trail of debris and road surface damage.
Police first noticed a blown tyre lying on the road in Welcome Bay and observed a gouge trail leading away from it.
Police located the vehicle 11km away with the 23-year-old driver asleep inside, unaware of the mess he'd left behind.
The vehicle is damaged and the front left rim has been reduced to the hub.
The driver's been processed for drink driving after tests revealed he was two and a half times the legal limit, and also charged with dangerous driving.
