Masterton businessman Ray Southey is first cab off the rank as far as nominating for October's local-body elections is concerned.
Mr Southey, a sitting member on the Masterton Licensing Trust, lodged his nomination for a further term on the trust on Thursday.
No other nominations had been received in Masterton, Carterton or in South Wairarapa, although all three districts report that candidate packs have been picked up by prospective candidates.
Mr Southey will be seeking a fourth term on the trust, although he was not elected six years ago but was returned at the 2010 elections.
He said yesterday his motivation for wanting to be on the trust was to have a say in how trust community grants were distributed.
