Buses are to retain supremacy over Dominion Rd for now, after transport chiefs backed away from letting general vehicles into its bus priority lanes.
But Auckland City Council's transport committee has rejected a proposal to extend the peak-time bus lanes to 24-hour and to ban all parking for 4.5km.
The committee has left open a possibility of allowing taxis into the bus lanes - if not other vehicles with more than one occupant - while referring an $83 million upgrade to the new transport agency for more consultation.
