Bus tipped on side in Northland

A 40-seater bus has tipped on to its side at an intersection on State Highway 1 in Mata, Whangarei, say police.

The 10 passengers aboard the bus were uninjured and managed to climb out through the back window.

A heavy crane is lifting the bus out and traffic will be down to one lane for the next hour, say police.

It is not known what caused the crash.
