KEY POINTS:
A man was taken to Auckland Hospital in a serious condition after a bus hit him in the city yesterday. It was the second pedestrian accident involving a Ritchies bus in a week.
Senior Sergeant Matt Rogers said the man appeared to have stepped in front of the bus near the intersection of Customs and Fanshawe Sts about 2pm.
Ritchies spokesman John Harvey said he knew little about the accident yesterday afternoon, but the bus driver would be offered counselling.
"It's every driver's worst nightmare of course."
Late on Thursday, Zhuan-di Liu Chen, 58, was killed when she stepped in front of a Ritchies bus outside Westlake Girls High School.
