KEY POINTS:
A bus veered off the road, hit three parked cars, and smashed through a shop window in central Auckland today.
The Stagecoach bus drove into the Hartings wool and sheepskin shop in Quay Street about 8.30am.
Shop owner Chris Hay told NZPA that aside from the window there was not much damage to the shop.
The accident happened before staff arrived for work.
"I don't know under what circumstances the driver managed to navigate across the footpath, through three cars and into our window."
No bus passengers were hurt.
Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man was lucky to escape injury early this morning when he lost control of his car and drove into the side of a house in Karori, Wellington.
The accident happened about 3.40am as the driver turned on to a side street from the main road, but failed to take the corner and ended up crashing into the house.
While vehicle was badly damaged, neither the driver nor the sole occupant of the house were injured.
A passenger in the car was treated for minor injuries.
Sergeant Bruce McKay said police initially looked into the possibility that the crashed vehicle had been racing a second car.
"This is no longer considered to be the case and no one else is being sought in relation to this matter," he said.
He said that the driver was tested for alcohol and charges were likely.
