KEY POINTS:
The Wellington Tramways Union has rejected a pay offer from bus operator Go Wellington.
The union claimed that shift changes had cut their annual income because of restricted access to penal rates.
The company's offer of a 6.2 per cent pay increase was rejected 208 votes to 23 at a stopwork meeting on Wednesday.
Drivers also voted to take limited industrial action if the company did not make a better offer, Wellington Tramways secretary Kevin O'Sullivan said.
