KEY POINTS:
A man held a knife to a bus driver and ran off with the cash box in Hamilton last night.
Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Page said the hold-up happened on Saxbys Rd about 6.15pm.
"A Police dog tracked him into MacDonald Road but could not continue the track from there," Mr Page said.
He said the bus driver was not physically hurt and there were no other passengers on the bus at the time.
Mr Page said the offender was described as Maori, in his late teens with a "wispy moustache", wearing dark clothing and a bandanna around his wrist.
He said anyone with information should call Hamilton police on 07 858 6200.
