KEY POINTS:
A bus and beach buggy have collided in Northland, leaving 15 people injured.
Inspector William Taylor of the police northern communications centre said the crash happened about 5.50pm on Puketona Rd in Paihia.
"Initial reports from the scene indicate that a bus and a 'buggy' type vehicle have been involved with one of the vehicles on its side down a bank following the crash," Mr Taylor said.
Early reports suggested 15 people had been injured. None of the injuries were described as serious or critical, though one person will be taken to Whangarei Base Hospital by helicopter.
Emergency services are at the scene.
The Police Serious Crash Unit will be investigating.
