KEY POINTS:
Police investigating the activities of murder accused Graeme Burton have made another arrest after discovering weapons, cash and part of a police uniform.
Detective Senior Sergeant Shane Cotter said today a 24-year-old Wellington man from the suburb of Kingston was arrested yesterday on weapons charges.
The armed offenders squad executed a search warrant at a Kingston property about 5am yesterday, Mr Cotter said.
A man and woman who lived at the property were taken into custody and spoken to by the investigation team.
"A subsequent detailed search of the address located a loaded pistol grip shotgun and ammunition, a stun gun, a can of mace, thousands of rounds of 9mm ammunition, a bullet proof vest, a uniformed police issue shirt, drug paraphernalia and approximately $50,000 in cash," Mr Cotter said.
The man appeared in court yesterday afternoon and has been released on bail to appear again on February 9. Further charges were likely, Mr Cotter said.
He would not comment on how the man was linked to Burton or what part he played in his activities.
Mr Cotter said the investigation team was working very hard to establish everyone's involvement with Burton and a clearer picture was emerging.
Burton was shot in the leg during his dramatic arrest in the hills above Lower Hutt on January 6.
He has since been charged with 23 offences, including the murder of Wainuiomata father Karl Kuchenbecker, at a special bedside hearing in Wellington hospital last week.
He entered no plea and was remanded to appear in Wellington District Court on February 2.
At the weekend police arrested Taita woman Colleen Francis Malloy, and charged her with assisting Burton to avoid arrest.
She appeared in Lower Hutt District Court on Monday and was remanded on bail until January 30.
Police were also appealing for sightings of a silver 1991 Opel Vectra salon around the top of Summit Road or the Wainuiomata Hill Road lookout on the morning of Saturday, January 6.
Police still wanted anyone who was on the firebreaks of the eastern hills above Lower Hutt that day to contact them if they had not done so already.
Police were also still looking for the man who threatened to kill police officers involved in Burton's capture and smashed windows of a marked patrol car parked at Wellington Hospital on Wednesday, January 10.
