The man accused of murder after his wife's body was found burning on the roadside near Huntly is facing three charges, including one of assault in December last year.
Diwesh Sharma is in the Hamilton District Court today charged with murdering Ranjeeta Sharma, whose charred remains were discovered more than a week ago.
The 29-year-old was arrested on Friday night after he returned from Fiji with his four-year-old son.
Sharma is also facing an earlier charge of assault with a blunt instrument following an incident in South Auckland in December. The third charge is breach of bail.
