A burnt body found by a member of the public in south Auckland remained at the scene of a scrub fire this afternoon as police continued their investigation.
A member of the public is understood to have come across the body in grass on McRobbie Rd, Kingseat, while walking their dog this morning and alerted police at 6.30am.
The body was believed to be that of a male who lived in the area, said neighbours.
Firefighters attended a small scrub fire in the same street this morning.
Crews were called to the scene at 7am and two trucks continued to dampen down hotspots until about 3pm.
