Two teenagers who were allegedly `huffing' from a gas bottle moments before an explosion in Mosgiel today are fighting for their lives.
Emergency services were called to a house in Mosgiel following reports of a fire shortly after 2pm.
Witnesses reported hearing two explosions, and the teens ran out of the house in flames.
The teenagers, aged 18 and 19, were helped by nearby residents.
Fire Service East Otago assistant area commander Trevor Tilyard said the pair were inhaling from gas bottles at the property, with fire investigators yet to determine what caused the explosion.
